It's about the tricks and techniques used by big advertising agencies to convince you to buy their particular product. It's about the illusion they try to sell and attempts to break down the way in which they want you to react to the images they project unto your subconcious.yes, youre subconcious.
On this site you'll find a collection of mostly old cigarette ads though I plan to update it with alcohol ads soon.
By analysing some of these images I will attempt to breakdown the techniques used and how they affect the viewer.
Billions of dollars are spent every year in the US by advertising agencies. The ads are carefully designed to target a specific audience and get a specific reaction by not always wholesome methods.
We are bombarded with all sorts of images everywhere we look wether we like it or not. So much so that's its become an intrusion in our lives.
Huge billboards with scantily clad women gazing suggestively at bottles of vodka.Ten foot representations of whiskey bottles dress the side of buidings that you pass as you take your kids to school.Advertising is shouting its version or reality at us from everywhere,
Its now become part of our enviroment
.And are we not a product of our enviroment?
a lot of these ads are loaded with a sublimnal messages or ideas that you wont conciously be aware of, but subconciously will register. By bypassing your concious these messages escape unscrutinised by your normal reasoning.
Im sure you say advertising has no effect on me! and maybe you are seeing the main message they're trying to sell for the illusion it is,but theres another message sneaking by your perception so you cant reject it, its gonna implant itself in your subconcious without your permission.
Sure you can. On the following pages you will find images and a breakdown of the hidden messages in them. I suggest before reading the analyses of the image just examine the pic itself for a while and then read the description.
